As part of a multidisciplinary team, I contributed to the creation of an alternative city navigation system for Visaginas, rooted in thorough research of local informal place names and their cultural significance. We developed a visual identity based on phonetic transcription to bridge the linguistic gap between Russian-speaking locals and Lithuanian as the official language. The navigation system repurposes Soviet-era flagpoles as dynamic markers, reflecting the city’s unique social history and urban layout. This project culminated in a digital guide and a multimedia exhibition, offering a fresh perspective on the city’s collective memory and identity.
